Interview with Pascal Hens

Hamburg, August 2010

Pascal, how did you come to the sport of handball?

My friends got me to play handball. When I arrived at the school, my classmates strangely played handball. And one of my classmate's father was actually the coach. And just for the fun of it, and because I wanted to do something with my classmates, I went to handball training sessions. And that's how it started. So if my class had been football-crazy, I would now perhaps be playing football. But that's how I came to play handball. And yes, somehow it never ceased being fun. So it’s still a lot of fun. fun. That's why I'm still playing.

What does handball mean to you?

A very good question. A handball is a round throwing object. Well of course, it’s a very fast sport, which also makes it so appealing in my opinion. So there's always lots of action. A lot of goals are being scored And by now, there's always a great atmosphere in the arenas. We always have more than 10.000 people in the hall in Hamburg. And yes, this atmosphere, sweating together, winning together, that's really the essence of handball in my opinion. And that's the beauty of it. When you're sitting in the changing rooms after such a game. Satisfied. Celebrating a victory with the fans. That's simply handball.

Why are you under contract with Kempa?

That cooperation with Kempa works very well. That our wishes are heard. Because we also get to have a say at Kempa. That we are asked how the shoes could be improved. Or how textiles could be improved. And I think that's very important when cooperating. And that's why it’s a good match. I cannot imagine anything better than Kempa.

What does Michelin mean to you?

Michelin. I don't know a lot about racing, but Michelin is the leader when it comes to tires in motorsports. I think everyone knows this. Therefore, it’s great for Kempa to work with Michelin. And yes, I also think that Kempa and Michelin are a good match, and that we can even better shoes now.
